You will learn to use mathematical thinking tools, algorithms, and methods to solve complex problems. You will develop your ability for abstraction, analytical thinking, and logical reasoning. You will gain more than just computational skills; you will learn to use mathematical theory to calculate more efficiently, and sometimes to avoid calculations altogether. When needed, the power of thought is complemented by numerical computations and simulations. The programme offers a wide range of courses in mathematics, mathematical statistics, numerical analysis, and computational science. These can be combined with courses in natural sciences, engineering, economics, finance, social sciences, or the humanities. Teaching is in English. Half of the study places are reserved for international admission. You can study parts of the programme abroad. Lund University has exchange agreements with universities around the world. The programme includes a high proportion of teacher-led instruction. You will receive training in both oral and written communication. Group work and seminars provide valuable experience in collaboration and discussion. During the first semester we offer a mentoring programme with experienced undergraduate students.
